Pak curry house New Tayyabs makes it to London top restaurant guide
London, Sept 10 ANI: New Tayyabs, a curry house that offers mutton tikka for a petty price of 2.80 pounds per plate has been named one of London's top restaurants by the Zagat Guide.The curry house in east London was a place ahead of Manoir Aux Quat'Saisons in Great Milton, Oxfordshire - run by Raymond Blanc, who starred in BBC2's The Restaurant.The Pakistani eatery in Whitechapel, East London, scored 28 out of 30 in the guide, whose winner was Gordon Ramsay.The curry house costs around 14.70 pounds for a meal, compared to 90 pounds at Ramsay's.Mohammed Tayyab, in his 70s, started the restaurant after taking over his favourite greasy spoon in 1975. It is now run by eight members of his family. "It's fantastic to rub shoulders with the likes of Ramsay. Dad wanted to produce very basic but very fresh and very good food," the Sun quoted son Mohammed's son Wasim, head chef, as saying.The restaurant does not take reservations and often has a queue of diners snaking out into the street.Founder Tim Zagat said: "Every time Gordon Ramsay blows his nose it gets a story, but a restaurant like Tayyabs is much more exciting."
