India under UPA as emerged as strong epicenter of terror: BJP

Bangalore, Sept.13 ANI: The Bharatiya Janata Party BJP today charged the Manmohan Singh-led UPA Government with making India a strong epicentre of terror in the last four years. In a hard hitting political resolution that was issued here today, it said that the Centre's s soft approach to terror was tragically evident while dealing with the issue relating to the ban on the notorious SIMI. "This organization does not believe in our Constitution. An investigation has brought out the real objective of SIMI, which is to establish a Muslim caliphate in total defiance of our ideals of secularism liberalism and democracy. Investigations have repeatedly shown how elaborate plans for mounting terrorist attacks were executed with meticulous planning and use of advanced explosive devices by highly indoctrinated members of this group," the resolution said.Describing the UPA Government's move to withdraw the Prevention of Terrorism Act POTA and the initial withdrawal of the ban on SIMI as it single biggest mistakes, the BJP said it is "indeed reprehensible that many senior Ministers of the UPA government have openly supported SIMI and shamelessly described it as a "social organisation" in spite of its cruel record of terror."The party complemented its governments in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Karnataka for the speed with which their police forces had acted in identifying and apprehending key conspirators and executors of the terror attacks in their respective states. The Congress Party, which heads the ruling UPA alliance, it said, has subordinated the fight against terror to vote bank politics, and added that the weak kneed UPA regime has failed miserably to control the influx of Pakistan trained militants into Kashmir, ISI backed HUJI operatives from Bangladesh and Maoist guerrillas from Nepal. It demanded that the government must approach the courts of the land and properly pursue the issue of the ban against the SIMI and take all other steps counter terrorist activities. It also called on the government to issue a White Paper on jehadi terrorism which should reflect a thorough report on the activities of SIMI and related terrorist groups such as HUJI, the Lashkar e Taiyyaba, the Jaish e Mohammed, the Al Umma, besides other "ISI sponsored outfits like the ULFA and armed insurgent groups in the north east."It also demanded strong measures to choke channels of terrorist funding and weapons, destroy training camps of terrorists in different parts of the country, take strong action against over-ground supporters and front organisations of terrorist bodies and lastly, effectively manage the borders to control infiltration. The BJP further demanded strong diplomatic pressure to be brought on Pakistan in a very stern manner. Tough action was also needed against infiltration from Bangladesh. It also warned of the politics of induced conversion increasingly becoming a threat to national security. ANI
