  Today's Top StoriesIndian Jaipur-Sep-24-IANS-Australia-39-s-most-prolific-scorer-in-the-last-couple-of-years-Michael-Hussey-says News

Jaipur, Sep 24 IANS Australia's most prolific scorer in the last couple of years Michael Hussey says his team may be inexperienced, but India would make a big mistake by underestimating their strength.

SPO12SportsDon't underestimate us: Mike HusseyJaipur, Sep 24 IANS Australia's most prolific scorer in the last couple of years Michael Hussey says his team may be inexperienced, but India would make a big mistake by underestimating their strength.Hussey said the new-look Australian side might be short of international experience, but have enough years at the rigorous first-class level to make up.The middle order batsman said they will rewrite history by emulating the champion side which four years back beat India on home turf after 35 years."We will take a lot of things out of 2004 but the are so different that we are sort of a new team, trying to create our own history," Hussey said."We have lost so many great players from that series. We are new and fresh and want to put our own stamp on things.""The Indians might think we're inexperienced, and perhaps in Test cricket in this country we are, but the guys that have come in have played a lot of first-class cricket for their states. I think it would be a bit of a mistake to underestimate the newer, more inexperienced guys in our team," he said.Australia triumphed in a Test series in India the last time they were here, but players like Adam Gilchrist, Shane Warne, Justin Langer and Glenn McGrath are missing from the line-up.Ricky Ponting, Matthew Hayden, Simon Katich and Michael Clarke are the only four players with Test experience in India. "We have a very strong first-class system. Anyone who comes in is going to have put some good performances on the board. I think they're very seasoned, hardened cricketers, and it's a case of how quickly we can adapt to the conditions." Australia are here to get some tips from former India coach Greg Chapell on the Indian conditions. They play a tour match against the Rajasthan Cricket Association's Centre of Excellence on September 27-28."Everyone should be preparing as though they're going to play and there will be some unlucky guys who miss out," Hussey said.--Indo-Asian News Serviceav/vs 374 Words24091740
