Want to meet T-Rex Go to Jharkhand

NAT21National/Environment/ScienceWant to meet T-Rex Go to JharkhandRanchi, Sep 27 IANS Want to know more about the ferocious T-Rex and his friends Well, there's good news for you, as the forest department of Jharkhand plans to establish a dinosaur park in the state. The authorities came up with the idea after footprints resembling those of the big reptiles were discovered in the state. "Footprints resembling those of dinosaurs have been found in Pithoria in Ranchi and Hazaribagh districts. There is a possibility that the big reptiles might have been roaming in these areas," said Nitish Priyadarshi, a geologist and environmentalist. The plant fossils in Rajmahal Hills are from the Jurassic era, part of the age of the dinosaurs. Taking these factors into consideration, the forest department has come up with the plan to set up a dinosaur park near Khatanga on the outskirts of Ranchi. "We have mooted the idea to set up a dinosaur park. The park will be the first of its kind in the state," Sukhdeo Singh, secretary, forest department, told IANS. The park will showcase the evolution process of the dinosaurs and what scientists believe about their extinction. The park will take the visitors to the Jurassic age with the aid of audio and visual effects.Around Rs.60 million will be spent on the setting up the park. Models of reptiles like Tyrannosaurus, Melanorosaurus, Ankylosaurus and Velociraptors will be showcased in the park.Five years ago Jharkhand had planned to set up a fossil park in Rajmahal hills of Jharkhand but the plan has not come to fruition yet. --Indo-Asian News Servicens/ak/jg295 Words27091340
