BUS7Business/EnergyDMK union threatens strike in NeyveliNeyveli Tamil Nadu, Oct 1 IANS State-owned energy major Neyveli Lignite Corp is again faced by labour trouble with the trade union wing of Tamil Nadu's ruling DMK party issuing a strike notice to the company's management.The trade union has threatened to go on strike here from Oct 14 if its charter of demands that include regularization of contract labourers and guaranteed employment for employees' offspring is not met, company sources said Tuesday.The union handed over the strike notice late Monday night.Earlier, unions affiliated to the left and Pattali Makkal Katchi PMK had gone on strike in July. The strike had then ended after 21 days following management assurances during tripartite talks involving the state government's labour department that workers' demands will be considered favourably.PMK's labour union too may join the strike, party sources said.If the strike threat is carried out, Tamil Nadu may be worse off as it is already crippled by power outages throughout the state as it combats a shortfall of nearly 800 MW.According to estimates of various chambers of commerce, the state is losing nearly Rs.500 million a day due to interruptions in production schedules caused by power outages.In certain places in the state, power outages last as many as six hours, opposition parties have claimed.--Indo-Asian News Servicetsv/arj/jg242 Words01101501
