Scottish development international appoints Mark Hallan as India country manager

New Delhi, Nov 5, ANI/Business Wire India: Scottish Development International, the award winning organisation that supports Scottish companies to do business internationally, announced the appointment of Mark Hallan as its country manager for India.Scottish Development International is the Government agency that helps oversea enterprises seeking to set up business or expand in Scotland. As Country Manager, India, Hallan will lead executive teams based in New Delhi and Mumbai and will be responsible for representing Scotland's business interests in India and for identifying opportunities for Scotland to do business with and in the region.Speaking on his appointment, Mark Hallan, Country Manager, India, Scottish Development International, said, "I am very honoured to be in India and hope to share my knowledge and experience to help grow business between India and Scotland. India is an important market for Scotland and we're looking to upscale investments from the country as well as attract more companies."We offer a business environment which is easy to work in with high quality workforce and a culture of good private-public partnerships, "he added.Hallan also highlighted that Scotland's credentials as a premier business location were recently confirmed by being named as the European Region of the Future 2008 by the Financial Times FDI magazine.Hallan comes with extensive experience of international economic and business development initiatives and was previously the Regional Manager of Scottish Development International SDI Southeast Asia and Australasia.Prior to this, Hallan was head of the elite and highly influential business network GlobalScot within Scottish Enterprise SE, a post he held since September 2006. In this capacity, Hallan managed this world-class business network of around 1000 influential Scots who worked in senior positions in international business. He was responsible for matching their knowledge, experience and contacts with ambitious Scottish firms looking to grow their business. GlobalScot was acknowledged by the World Bank as an exemplar in how a diaspora can be used to support economic growth within a country.Hallan also played a key role in SE's Relationship Management team where he developed strategic relationships with the key influencers in Scotland's economy, including Scotland's top 100 companies as well as Scottish parliamentarians in Edinburgh, Westminster and Brussels. Prior to this, Hallan spent around 10 years with Scottish Development International, including periods in Chicago, London and New York. ANI
